Američan z indijanskimi, irskimi in afriškimi koreninami  ustvarja čustveno nabito glasbo, polno raznolikih afriških ritmov, zanimivih vokalov in ameriško črnskega vzdušja.

ENG: We had a little chat with soulful house pioneer Osunlade, who is currently performing at the festival Suncebeat, at the idilic The Garden Tisno resort in Croatia. African with native american, irich and african roots brings to the people music with amazing african rhytms, soulful vocals and black american vibes. He is very pleasant and down to earth person, as shown by the fact, that he cares about his own media relationship while his peers have large management team and give priority to glory and luxury rather than genuine human relationship.

ENG: Hi, what have you been up to recently?

Basically I’ve been concentrating on the label’s brand, getting more exposure for the artists while touring and competing my next album release.

Vsi trenutki nas sčasoma naredijo to kar smo. Yoruba ni nič drugega kot recimo dihanje.

ENG: You are born and raised in Missouri in United States with roots from West Africa’s country Yorubaland, after what you also named your label Yoruba records. Can you tell me more about the impact that had this culture on your work?

I am not from Yoruba, however i practice the study and culture. the impact of it has been immense in my music just as it has my life..its one and the same, there is no difference of energy in life for me. everything is connected and all you experience is part of your journey, whether it be culture, religion, language..all moments make up who you are eventually. Yoruba is no different than say breathing.

SLO: Zasledila sem, da si tudi duhovnik. Ali to še prakticiraš?

Duhovniki smo vsi..

ENG: I’ve noticed you are a priest too. Do you still practice that?

We are all priests..meaning, yes i have gone thru the ceremonies of priesthood, but what its taught me is that we are all on the same journey of finding balance, or at least should be. Yes i still practice it as its a life long personal event.

ENG: Living in USA and Greece with roots from Africa while creating music for over 25 years. What do you think are the biggest differences between valuation of house music and house culture in general between those countries/continents?

Again i am not of african descent solely..my roots are much wider with native american, irish, dominican as well as african., like most african americans, we are all subjects of the space trade which as impure as it was and has made us has also given me specific the direct understanding of all cultures associated, not just african however that is the primary root of all sound and rhythm for me musically, its not as boxed as such.
my musical experience is far more influenced by living in a midwestern city in the craziness that is the black american experience. most of the most influential music and people in history come from this disposition and have created the foundation of the core of all musics that exist. the difference of america versus say africa in its valuation is that everything in america today is solely monetary and ego. i think in africa everything is newer, from independence to now say south africa having a house music scene based on what was created by myself and peers early on. its for me a diluted version of what we’ve done many years ago. its great to see but i think in both situations like music as a whole today, there is less of actual talent and more skillful people that have learned a program or tool and not and instrument which ultimately means music is not really the priority..again, in todays world, we are subject to the parody of being famous and rich, not by creating beauty that changes people and the world. sad but its real.

ENG: This summer we will have honour to see you at two festivals in Croatia – SunceBeat and Defected. What can we expect from your performance?

The only thing i claim in my performances is that they are always honest and of the moment. nothing is ever pre planned or staged and its a common thread of the energy of the people and setting. Croatia is the best place for this for me!
